Jaguar has lifted the veil on its Type 00 concept car at Miami Art Week, marking a bold new chapter for the brand. This all-electric luxury coupe, poised to rival vehicles like the Rolls-Royce Spectre, promises cutting-edge design, innovative features, and groundbreaking technology. Set to hit the market in 2026, the Type 00 will boast an impressive 478-mile range and a price tag exceeding £100,000.
A Revolutionary Rebrand?
The unveiling of the Type 00 follows Jaguar's dramatic rebranding journey. The British automaker made headlines with its decision to halt production for a year and debut a daring new identity, including a striking advertising campaign. The Type 00 is the first tangible product of this transformation, signaling Jaguar’s commitment to an all-electric future and a fresh design philosophy.
Striking Design and Bold Styling
The Type 00 is unlike any Jaguar that has come before it. With its aggressive front fascia, the vehicle exudes a villainous allure that feels straight out of a superhero movie. The elongated bonnet, despite lacking an engine, adds to its commanding presence, a purely stylistic choice described as giving the car "unmistakable presence" by Jaguar's Chief Creative Officer, Gerry McGovern.
Horizontal lines dominate the front bumper and flow seamlessly onto the bonnet, forming a signature element of Jaguar’s new design language. The low, sleek side profile features a fastback rear reminiscent of luxury coupes like the Rolls-Royce Spectre. Meanwhile, enormous 23-inch alloy wheels further emphasize its muscular stance.
At the rear, Jaguar has taken an unconventional approach by eliminating the rear window, a move reminiscent of the Polestar 4. Instead, the horizontal lines continue, concealing the taillights for a distinctive look that might evoke mixed reactions.
Futuristic Interior
Inside, the Type 00’s minimalist design and unique materials set it apart. A standout feature is the brass beam running the length of the cabin, mirrored on the doors for a cohesive aesthetic. The dashboard carries over the horizontal line motif, tying the exterior and interior together seamlessly.
Hidden beneath the dashboard are two large infotainment screens, one for the driver and one for the passenger, which extend across the car’s width when deployed. These displays adapt based on the "mood stones" placed in the center console, natural material blocks like alabaster and brass that alter the car’s lighting and driving modes.
Advanced Electric Architecture
The Type 00’s underpinnings are just as innovative as its design. Built on Jaguar’s new "Electric Architecture," the vehicle features proprietary battery technology exclusive to the brand. While exact specifications remain under wraps, the confirmed 478-mile range and rapid charging capabilities, adding 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes, are impressive benchmarks.
Powertrain details are yet to be finalized, but the Type 00 is expected to feature a dual-motor setup delivering all-wheel drive and at least 500 horsepower. These specifications underline its performance credentials as a luxury EV.
When Can You Get One?
Enthusiasts will have to wait a bit longer to own this groundbreaking vehicle. Jaguar’s production hiatus in 2025 will pave the way for the Type 00’s launch in 2026. With a price expected to exceed £100,000, the Type 00 represents a bold step forward for Jaguar as it redefines itself in the electric luxury market.
